How TNEB Power Cuts Work

TNEB conducts scheduled maintenance on substations, transformers, and transmission lines to ensure reliable electricity supply. These planned interruptions typically last 6-8 hours (usually 9 AM to 4 PM) and are announced 24-48 hours in advance. Areas affected depend on which substation or feeder line is being serviced.

Common reasons for scheduled power cuts include monthly substation maintenance, transformer oil testing, line extension work, tree cutting near power lines, and installation of new equipment. Understanding these patterns helps you plan — areas with older infrastructure tend to have more frequent maintenance windows.
